Welcome to Spiral Gardens Country Park Retreat which has been established as high end accommodation for peace and tranquillity which our guests appreciate from their feedback.
We offer a self-catering option, in the luxurious ‘Honey Bee Cottage’ or the cosy studio apartment ‘Monarch of the Glen’, located within the grounds, and a bed and breakfast option with three luxury suites in the main homestead, “Y cwtch ty” click here for meaning.
The retreat is located within beautiful native bush, rolling grounds with majestic punga trees, rhododendrons, an orchard and veggie garden. The lawns go down to the Piopiotea River, whilst the local swimming hole is reached by an enjoyable trail going through the native woodland down to the River.
Guests are welcome to wander the grounds and use the outdoor decks to enjoy the surroundings, birds and wildlife that abounds most of the year, especially at dusk when the bird songs and crickets seem to compete against each other.
We are located beside the world famous Raurimu Spiral, an amazing engineering icon that provides much of the history of the village of Raurimu, at the same time convenient for exploring the Tongariro National Park and Mount Ruapehu ski fields in winter, and in the summer cycling or trekking locally or visiting Mount Ngarauhoe (Mount Doom in the Lord of the Rings films) and the famous Tongariro crossing.
