The B&B guests in the Homestead are welcome to use the lounge, outdoor decks, enjoy exploring the gardens, orchard, and trails through the woods down to the Piopiotea River. Being immersed in a park and wood lands, the wild life is a joy to see and hear. Wild goats wander down to the opposite side of the river, quails come on to the front lawns and rabbits can be seen hopping around the bushes and trees, whilst we have a kingfisher that comes and perches on the rear deck that reaches out towards the Piopiotea River. The native wood pigeons and blue ducks regularly fly over with their characteristic callings. When the Kowhai tree is in flower the native tui birds are in the branches gorging on the flowers.
