Things to see and do around the area

Spiral Gardens Country Park Retreat close by the world famous Raurimu Railway Spiral, is exceptionally well located for those wishing to see places in the Tongariro National Park, doing the Tongariro Crossing and exploring Mt Ngauruhoe, the Wanganui and Tongariro Rivers, and Lake Taupo in the summer, and Mt Ruapehu ski fields in the winter season.

For those that seek more restive and relaxing sporting pursuits we offer within the grounds and on the river the following:-

                                     quoits

or relax in a comfy swinging hammock reading a book, sunbathing to music or just listening to the rich bird life.

For those more physically inclined, activates range from hiking the Tongariro Crossing to shorter half day or half hour walks, biking (locally available for hire) on numerous trails, to a choice of two 18-hole international quality golf courses, river rafting and quad biking.

Both restive and physical activities need good cafes and restaurants afterwards to recount the deeds of the day, which we have locally, and we can arrange door to door drop off and collection if celebratory drinks are anticipated....
